    MiKTeX 2.7 Beta 1 released

I am pleased to announce the release of MiKTeX 2.7 Beta 1.

    Pre-release software

This is pre-release software. It may contain fatal bugs or don't even run on your system.

    System requirements

MiKTeX 2.7 Beta 1 requires one of the following Windows platforms:

    • Windows Vista
    • Windows Server 2003
    • Windows XP
    • Windows 2000

MiKTeX 2.7 Beta 1 does not work on legacy Windows platforms (Windows 9x/Me/NT).

    What's new

XeTeX version 0.996-patch1 has been integrated into the MiKTeX distribution. If you are looking for a Unicode-based TeX engine, or if want to use Windows fonts, then you should give XeTeX a try.

    Download link

    Basic MiKTeX installer:

    Reporting issues

Please post a reply to this thread, if you find it difficult to install/use MiKTeX 2.7 Beta 1.

Re: MiKTeX 2.7 Beta 1 released

First, thanks for your great work!

I found that latex with Miktex 2.7 chokes when there are graphic files names with accents (latex : assertion failed). It used to be ok with Miktex 2.6.

    Martin.

Re: MiKTeX 2.7 Beta 1 released

Thank you, I will take a look at it. I think that a correction (Beta 2) will be available soon.

Re: MiKTeX 2.7 Beta 1 released

    Hi:
Can someone point me to some documentation on how Windows fonts can be used with MikTeX 2.7 (supposed to be quite easy with xetex)?

    thanks,
    -rsv

have not tried it, but there is a simple example (using xetex) here: http://docs.miktex.org/2.7/relnotes/

Re: MiKTeX 2.7 Beta 1 released

In future releases, is it possible to have the new version merely overwrite the files from the older version while keeping user specific information intact, e.g. local repository and dowloaded packages?
